Phil and his team:

  • Migrated Sportsmans.com from an unsupported platform to a current, autoscaling, cloud-based platform (Microsoft Azure) that supports 4x more sales. One outcome was that Sportsman’s Warehouse was in the top 3 on Total Retail’s “Top 100 Omnichannel Retailers” for 2021 and 2022.
  • Created the Customer Journey Maps and “Capability Value Streams” to guide business and technology strategy for a multi-billion dollar, multi-channel retailer. The capabilities delivered were instrumental to Consumer Reports ranking the Exchange a top 10 online electronics retailer in 2015 and 2016.
  • Acquired, integrated, and supported Oracle and SAP ERP systems including merchandising, credit, finance, payroll, and logistics system; CRMs from Salesforce; and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Designed and implemented the systems supporting a 1.2 million square foot distribution center supporting department stores as well as several eCommerce fulfillment centers.
  • Created the global technology architecture for a high volume, 24×7 omnichannel retailer with a mix of facilities from retail stores to restaurants, convenience stores, distribution centers, and water bottling plants.
  • Led technology teams ranging from 25 to 500 employees through periods of tremendous growth and transformation as well as pandemic, outsourcing, mergers, and downsizing. Whether in exciting or challenging times, my team understood the business priorities and why their work was important to our shared success.
  • Led ITIL-based technology operations through changes including data center moves, data center consolidations, and implementation of major outsourcing partnerships.
  • Designed and drove the NIST-based information security program for a global retailer that EY assessed as being ahead of the retail industry in 20 of 20 critical areas.
  • Created a project management office that oversaw the integration of the technology infrastructure during the merger of two $15B enterprises.
